Today we were given the first task of which would get us together in our group, get us thinking about what we are as a group and as individuals what we can offer when we come together that will make the group successful.
Initially me and Tom Hodkin started to create a partnership but were approached by the other members of our final group Cameron, Amelia and Izzy with a proposition to join the groups together to create one group, we originally didn't know what to think about the idea as we pictured staying as a duo as me and Tom know we work together and have very similar interests in the graphic design world and we didn't want to join another group and have our ideas contradiction to their group and cause tension but after a conversation with John decided that it is best to try and collaborate and rather than avoiding the possibility of contradictions it would be better to collaborate as one group and evaluate any contradictions we come across and adapt from them as this opens up our possibilities and directions the group can go in.
So the decision was made... The group is TOM, JAMES, IZZY, AMELIA and CAMERON!
I would consider my specialism to lie in the area of editorial design as this is not only something that I massively enjoy creating but also that I believe I am skilled at. The reasons that I thoroughly enjoy editorial design is that it is a really wide area of design that I enjoy due to the fact that what ever the editorial design is based on highly influences the aesthetics of design itself and this can be highly varied. As a profession editorial design encompasses one of the largest employers of graphic designers due to the fact that all fields include book design, newspaper design, magazine design and of more recently in modern society the online counterparts of the earlier mentioned making it what I believe to be a vital part of a graphic design agency that we set up.

Due to the fact we can see ourselves offering the whole package the range of target market that we could potentially do work for is massive.

Other vital details when setting up a studio will also have to be thoroughly thought about as these are the little details that can be the different between the whole venture failing and the studio taking off running and entering the industry properly. These aspects include all the costs that will be incurred in the creation of the studio and what the costs will be to run it as these financial technicalities are very important to a new studio with no name in the industry yet and finally a few more details about how the company/studio will be set up and run like the structures and share that each person will own in the company.
