OUGD502 ST1 - Taking Care Of Business - Similar Studios

As a group we decided on a few different studios of which we think are of simiar styles to us and that we believe could be a future prospective collaboration point for us, people who we idolise and people of which we believe looking in to can help us develop as designers and as a studio.

Rabbit Hole, similarly to screeeeen "are a multidisciplinary design studio
specialising in branding and art direction with a distinct focus on digital and web technologies" and they seen to fill a space in the modern day design industry that we believe we would also fall in.
they develop brand systems including, visual identities, artwork, print design, digital experiences and physical environments making them similar to us as they concentrate on more formal branding and physical and digital print work but also similarly to us have an added emphasis on originality through the use of more engaging and physical crafting and printing methods.

Here is a list of clients that Rabbit Hole have worked for…
3B Records, Coldplay, Deadmau5, EMI, Halocyan, Kylie Minogue, Lily Allen, Lost Village Festival, Mariano Vivanco, Max Cooper, Parlophone, Philip George, Rising Digital, Riva Starr, Snatch! Records , The City Talking, Transform Festival, Universal Music, Virgin EMI & Warner Music Group

The next agency that we decided look at was Hort Studios in Berlin and as I will be visiting them on the university trip top Berlin in March they are a studio of which really really inspire a few members of our Screeeeen team. Similarly to Rabbit Hole they concentrate on a mix of digital and mixed media design delivery methods to complete a brief. Another aspects that drew us to them was the fact that part of their ethos is that the studio should have a perfect balance of work and play and as this personality and ethos is something we really want to adopt in the creation of our studio it was important to look how the atmosphere in a studio can be relaxed while still achieving a high work ethic. Finally their abstract logotype inspired us as this is something that we wanted to include but not something often seen in graphic design studios and so seeing how this can work was very beneficial. They have completed work for a wide range of people such as individual practitioner architects, to big cultural institutions and even to massive global companies such as nike and adidas.

Now that we have looked at two studios that concentrate more in the digital design side of the industry it was now time to look as something more suited to the practical side that our studio will have and so fore we looked at The Print Club London. They are a studio based in London set up by Fred Higginson and Kate Higginson in 2007. Although they are a studio that specialise in only screen printing and the fact that our studio will also provide digital print they are a good studio to look at due to the fact that it shows us that having this side to the studio as one of our main services can really set us apart form the other studios we will be competing with and all printing could be done in house meaning no outsourcing problems will be encountererd.
