OUGD502 SB1 - Briefing
Today we were briefed on the first studio brief of he Level 5 PPP2 module. This module is comprised of two main aspects to the deliverables the first of these is a blog that must be run through the year similarly to last year in which we display our knowledge on the graphic design industry though knowledge of agencies and designers on a local national and international basis but unlike last year where this was quite general this years running commentary through the blog needs to be a lot more in depth and refined. This knowledge of designers relevant to myself is the most important part of the research as this will lead on directly to the second part of the brief. Along side this on the blog we must run an almost commentary like blog posts commenting on our experiences of level 5 throughout the year including briefs we enjoyed and why and briefs we disliked and why essentially creating a commentary on how level 5 had helped me develop into the designer that I am.
The second part of the brief leads on from the research into designers of which I believe are relevant to me and other aspects of research of which helps me to develop as a designer through a look in the contemporary graphic design industry. From this point I must move on from my research and directly use it as the inspiration for a report about creative practitioners that I have interviewed in which I will not only display my skills as a designer through the design itself but also my knowledge that I have learnt through the interview with the practitioner and how this insight in to what the life of a creative practitioner in the area of design that I desire to be in can help me with my development as a designer.
As one of my biggest goals as a designer is to work in the area of editorial design and more specifically fashion editorial I have decided that it would be best to interview a range of editorial designers about their entry in to the world of editorial, their journey a long the way and finally their ambitions for the future and what they may hold.
